How to send files from mobile phone to computer

In this guide I will explain to you how to transfer files (pictures, videos, audio and so on) from your mobile phone to your computer.

There are a few different ways to send files from your phone to your computer, and there are:

- Data Cable
- Memory Cards
- Bluetooth
- E-mail

We will start by the most basic one, the data cable. All phones that come with an MP3 player or digital camera will most likely come with a USB 2.0 cable kit. If you’re unlucky and your mobile phone didn’t had any data cables included in the phone package you can always purchase one on any mobile store, but pay attention to brand and model of your phone, because most phones have different USB cable kits. Once you’ve found your USB cable kit you will need to install the kits software on your computer. This will allow you to access your mobile phone like an ordinary hard drive. This software differs from brand to brand. For instance if you have a Nokia phone you will need a software called Nokia PC Suite. Usually you can download this software from the manufacturer’s website.

The next method is the memory card method. This method only works with mobile phones with SD or microSD ports. Usually you will have to purchase the cards separately from the phone. The price can vary a lot, depending on the capacity of the card. After installing your card in your mobile phone you will be able to save your files inside the card. When the card is full or you simply want to make backups of your media, you just need to remove the memory card from your phone and insert it on your computers card reader. Attention: Not all computers come with card readers. If you don’t have one, you can purchase it at any computer shop near you. They are not very expensive and they are very useful.

The next method is my favorite, the Bluetooth. This kind of file transfer only works if your mobile phone is equipped with Bluetooth. For this method you will need to install a Bluetooth USB module on your computer. This module looks like a regular USB data pen drive and usually costs around 25$ last time I checked, it’s probably cheaper now. You will need to insert the Bluetooth module on one of your USB ports and install the software that came with the module. This should be quick and easy. After doing this you will need to activate the Bluetooth connectivity on your mobile phone. After enabling the Bluetooth on your phone, you will see your mobile device represented on your computer screen. You can now access your phone like a regular hard drive and you can copy/paste/delete the files you want.

The last one is the e-mail method. As you probably guessed already this involves sending an e-mail from your phone to your personal e-mail and add your image or any other file inside that e-mail. This is by far the worst method of sending files from your mobile to your computer. It’s a very tiring and slow process sending images over e-mail from your mobile phone.
