Motorola MOTOSURF A3100 Review

Motorola seems to be determined to make 2009 a good year, opposed to a poor 2008. The proof is the new Motorola MOTOSURF A3100, a touch screen mobile phone with 3,5G technology.

The MOTOSURF A3100 comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 and supports not only 3.5G but also Wi-Fi. The screen measures 2.8” 240x320. Motorola has been criticized lately for not shipping phones with 3G technology, and it seems like they listened to us and patched the new MOTOSURF A3100 with tri-band 850/1900/2100 MHz UMTS with support for HSDPA and HSUPA. The phone also comes with quad-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE support. This allied to the Wi-Fi connectivity means that you should be able to get a high speed data connection in any place of the world.

The phones operating system – Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional – has been tweaked by Motorola with a customizable main screen on which you can display RSS feeds, weather reports, calendar events and also a few shortcuts to social networking sites.

The MOTOSURF has its own stylus pen but you can also control it using a finger easily. Alternatively you can also use the roller ball installed underneath the display.

The MOTOSURF comes with two digital cameras. The first one is a 3.0 megapixel camera installed on the back of the phone and it has auto-focus technology. The second one – installed on the front of the phone – is not so good in quality and it’s mainly used for video calling. The results however are better than using an iPhone.

The Motorola MOTOSURF A3100 also comes with the expected microSD expandable memory, up to 32GB, Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0. Besides that is also comes with a GPS which makes possible to use it with your personal navigation system.

The phones processor is a Qualcomm MSM 7201A which is combined with 128MB RAM. The maximum battery time is 6.8 hours on talking mode and up to 12 days in standby mode.

There is still no word on the phones pricing.
